Blue Static Dissipative Polypropylene
Blue Static Dissipative Containers
Blue Static dissipative (BAS) plastic containers, made with specialized polypropylene or durable ABS materials, have a surface resistivity between 108 to 1010 ohms/square, with a static decay rate of charges on static dissipative vials between 5kV to 50V within 50 nanoseconds. The static dissipative polymers prevent the sudden release of electricity between two objects known as Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). This is caused mainly by Triboelectric charging, the transfer of electrons through friction between two objects’ surfaces. Items made with this material will have no or very little initial charge, and will prevent discharge to or from human contact. Static-Dissipative materials lose their charge in a slower way than conductive (CAS) containers.
In addition to being compliant with Federal Test Standard 101C Method 4046.1 for resistivity, this BAS material is REACH & RoHs compliant and has no latex or dry rubber added to the material from the manufacturer. Our BAS material is a permanent anti-static material, meaning the material will not “Leach out” or degrade over time. This makes this material great for the long-term storage or transportation of sensitive electronic equipment, semi conductors or lab equipment that can be damaged from the smallest of electronic shocks.
